We still have not received any more H1N1 vaccine. So all we have is a few doses of injectable vaccine for children under 3 years of age. We have scheduled appointments for all of these doses already, so we are not scheduling anyone else at this time. As soon as we receive more vaccine, we will send another email and start scheduling more patients. If your child is under 10 years of age and is due for the second dose, it is acceptable for that dose to be given late. The vaccine will still work even if it is significantly more than 4 weeks between doses. However, your child will have only partial protection until the second dose is given. It appears that the health department has decided to supply some doses of the H1N1 vaccine to pharmacies and other mass immunization providers. Why they feel that pediatricians should not take precedence is unclear to us, but we have no part in that decision-making process. If you can find the vaccine elsewhere, we recommend you go ahead and get your child immunized instead of waiting for us to have it. We'd prefer to give it here, but it's more important just to make sure your child is protected.
