A second H1N1 vaccine recall was announced on 12/22 and affects some of the vaccine that we have had in our office. Several lots of the nasal spray vaccine were recalled because, over time, their potency dropped out of the ideal range. If your child was given a nasal spray H1N1 flu vaccine at our office before or during our Saturday clinic on Halloween, their vaccine was from one of the recalled lots. This is NOT a safety recall, so there is no danger to your child. Also, the problem was that the vaccines lost potency over time and we gave out all of our doses within a week of them arriving at our office. Therefore, the vaccine should have had good potency at the time it was given and your child should have good protection from the vaccine, so there is nothing that needs to be done as a result of the recall.
